Thanks to everyone who came down to the Bella Union on a Wednesday night for the Late Night Dungeon Crawl! We had a blast, and so did all our wonderful guests from the Comedy Festival. We managed to capture some of them in moving pictures with the aid of an imp in a box, so expect to see some clips appearing here soon for those of you who missed out.

But Dungeon Crawl is for life, not just for Festival, and our monthly show returns with our first ever foray into the world of Star Wars! We love D&D, but our geekery is multi-dimensional, so on May the 4th (when else?), Richard McKenzie will learn to speak bocce and Ben McKenzie will trade his Dungeon Master’s cloak for some Sith robes as we ditch the magical medieval fantasy tropes of magic swords, dragons and spells for a completely different world of lightsabres, rancors and mind tricks in a galaxy far, far away!

Featuring guest Jedi rebel scum Scott Edgar (Tripod), Clem Bastow (3RRR, The Vine), Adam McKenzie (Watson) and Aamer Rahman (Fear of a Brown Planet) plus assorted smugglers, stormtroopers, droids and muppets engaging in all kinds of scum and villainy!

Show starts at 8:30; tickets are as usual $15 on the door, or $14 pre-booked via bellaunion.com.au.

UPDATE! Stick around after the show to enjoy the very Australian comedy fan films Suburban Knights and Suburban Knights Episode II: Death Crush! You can find out more about these at the Suburban Knights web site – and you might even win a copy of your very own!

This week’s Late Night Dungeon Crawl will be huge! Braving the ire (and fire) of the dungeon monsters are ABC1 star Lawrence Leung (Lawrence Leung Wants a Jetpack), Canadian sensation DeAnne Smith (About Freakin’ Time), the man who puts the “Scott Edgar” into Scott Edgar and the Universe and Tripod, Scott Edgar and returning from last week, Toby Halligan (Diary Leaks, Electile Dysfunction) and Dave Bloustien (Good News Week, A Complete History of Western Philosophy)! Plus of course your regular Dungeon Master Ben McKenzie, and monster-of-the-week Richard McKenzie.

While the delightful Bec Hill (Bec Hill Didn’t Want to Play Your Stupid Game Anyway) sadly won’t be able to join us, there just might be a few more special guests – and in any case, this should be the biggest Dungeon Crawl yet!

See you there at 11 PM this Wednesday, April 6, at the Bella Union.

Thanks to the great crowd who made the effort of staying up way beyond my bedtime to join us for the first Late Night Dungeon Crawl! Guests Toby Halligan, Dave Bloustien, Jimmy James Eaton and Xavier Michaelides brought to life an amazing array of characters, including a half-ranger/half-tank, a hipster halfling, a fallen Valkyrie and a multiclass lover/fighter whose accent “wasn’t racist because there was no discernible country of origin”. And that druid who sent them on their quest was angry… Thanks too to Richard McKenzie, who was aided and abetting in his monster duties by  Sean Fabri.

Next week’s show looks even bigger, with confirmed guests Bec Hill (Bec Hill Didn’t Want to Play Your Stupid Game Anyway), Lawrence Leung (Lawrence Leung Wants a Jetpack), DeAnne Smith (Canada), Scott Edgar (Tripod) and returning from this week, Dave Bloustien and Toby Halligan. Plus there might be a few more special guests, in what might turn out to be the biggest Dungeon Crawl ever! We hope to see you there at 11 PM, April 6, at the Bella Union.
