The Melbourne Fringe hit comedy play A Record or an OBE returns for seasons in Adelaide and Melbourne in early 2008! Dates have now been confirmed for the Adelaide Fringe Festival and Melbourne International Comedy Festival, so watch this space for all the details very soon.

And don’t forget that you can catch OBE co-stars Rob Lloyd and Ben McKenzie on stage together in theatre in decay’s The Lobotomist, performed in Week 2 of the Top 30 plays in the 2007 Melbourne Short and Sweet short play competition at the Arts Centre. See the Short and Sweet web site for details. Rob and Ben are also both members of impro comedy troupe The Crew, and you can check out their line-ups page for information on where and when they’ll be appearing with the group.

At the Melbourne Fringe awards announced last night, A Record or an OBE was highly commended by the judges for the Comedy category! In addition, Caz Reitop’s Dirty Secrets, home to both OBE and Nicky Talacko’s excellent Cinder-effin-rella, took home the award for Best Venue! Congratulations to Zac and all the crew at Dirty Secrets; you really deserved this.

Many friends of Shaolin Punk also won awards, so congratulations to Mathew Kenneally (Best Comedy for Mathew Kenneally for Parliament), Adam J. Cass (Melbourne Dramatists Emerging Writers Award for I Love You, Bro), Vanessa Baylen (Best Special Event for Death By Chocolate) and all the other Fringe participants this year. I hope you all had a great festival!
